Fighting steroids....have been following Slimming World, lost 2 stone got to target then PMR Struck! Put nearly a stone back on but managing to maintain weight and SW have put me at target for health reasons wasn't prepared to pay when 1/2 lb is on & off. I've cut carbs eat lots of veg and cook everything from scratch, feeling fed up at the moment, hair loss not helping!!

Hi, Have a look at FAQs- both subjects covered there-

..and although you are fed up… “fighting steroids” is not the best way of looking at it…yes they can cause some unpleasant side effects, but they are at least allowing you to live life without pain…
Thank you will have a look, it's just that I spent so much money losing the weight and combined with the numerous side effects and various departments my GP talking about referring me to...just having a bad day and my son getting married in 5 weeks. I know I need the steroids at the moment but they're horrible xxxx
Working with your pred is a far better way to go - having "fought" PMR without pred for 5 years, I promise even pred is preferable!!!
Most of us would advise low carb - unless you need the company of SW, why pay out all that money!!! Are you using their lower carb approach? They always struck me as being very carb-heavy
Hello, what dose are you on now? What carb do you eat in a day? Salt can be a big factor with fluid retention particularly if you are above 10mg. I know it sounds trite but if you can accept the side effects for what they are now temporarily and not feel you have to fight, you’ll feel an awful lot better. I don’t know what your experiences were to make the doc do a rapid reduction. It doesn’t help that nobody tells you how it’ll be so when they do happen, it feels like one is having an unusual and severe reaction and along with Pred panic it’s a nightmare. Then follows a rapid reduction by the doc, followed by a flare and the patient has to go back up higher than they would be now if they had kept going slowly down. It’s a familiar picture.
Different Dr now and he phones me every 4 weeks, having regular bloods which are good and on slow taper..12.5mg for another week. I don't add salt to food( cooking/ eating) no bread, white rice, pasta, reduced potatoes, new best friend is a pressure cooker and loving home made soups!
Aaahhh. I empathise but keep going it sounds like you’re managing it. I’ve been fed up about my weight lately and the scales seem stuck but just an hour ago I bought a little dress for my hols ONE SIZE SMALLER!!! Focus on the little wins🤪🤗
