Every morning I wake up with scary hair, it is standing right up on end and all over.
Is this a symptom of PMR or age or is anyone having this issue and are you
able to resolve it; for me it has meant a shower every morning to tame it down and my hair is thinning so that has not been the best answer. I also tried dry shampoo spray, but not very successful

Have looked at this before when you've previously pointed someone towards it and found it really helpful again. Good to refresh my memory regarding one or two things...and also to reassure me! Thanks DL.
Doing ok...I think! 😄 Seeing rheumatologist on thu. Unfortunately, I'm thinking my urticaria rash may be vascular related as although significantly better, my skin still has pink patches that aren't fully healed....almost like some of the worst affected areas that were raised have left a pink discolouration on skin. When I went from 5dys on 30mg back down to my 6mg, rash appeared to re-emerge. So my GP has spoken to rheumatologist and I'm on 25mg for 5dys and drop 5mg every 5dys until 10mg and then slow taper from thereon. Also to continue with antihistamines. Does seem to be working more effectively and each day there's further improvement. There's always something isn't there?
My hair became very dry and hay stack like. My hairdresser cut it very short from its normal shoulder length. It looked really funky although it was in rubbish condition.
Our hair certainly changes in thickness and texture. I bought some crocheted hairnets and used them for a while - glamorous! I also like Kevin Murphy’s hair products - there is a terrific range for all manner of hair issues. As soon as you’ve solved it, it changes. I had lovely Prednisalone curls for a long time, it was fun for me with normally poker straight hair - they’ve all gone now and I’m considering a bob again.
Tricky because some of the conditioning shampoos makes your hair dry but oily. I did a deep conditioning and that helped but it passed. Must also be part of aging (another depressing fact). I suppose we are lucky if we have hair.
My normally greasy hair has become extremely dry and "fly-away". A very helpful "colleague" in Tesco pointed me towards a relatively expensive oil called Argan Oil of Morocco. Works like a charm on my hair.
How high is your dose of prednisone? My hair fell out and was so thin when I was above 15mg. I spent $100.00 on special shampoo, conditioner and another treatment to stop from losing it all. It helped but it still was so wirey and corse. Then it came in with even more waves and loves to stand up after sleeping. My cpap and night sweats don’t help so I too have to shower every day or wear a hat to cover it up.
I am having same problem, thinning hair, finding all over the place, on waking hair is sticking to sides of head, and sticking up like crazy, and I am now on much lower pred, between 4 and 5mgs, but have been on pred since 2016 and started off at 40 mgs, so why now is my question?
well have had ongoing stresses for long time, but couple have come to mind , yes, going to check with dr about B6 and or biotin, although he is not very interested or on board with vitamins
My hair started falling out when I was around 15 mg of prednisone and I asked my doc if that was due to the pred and she assured me it wasn’t, that it was stress frm my condition causing it, so I left it for awhile and then thanks to this site found out it was all too common for those on pred. So I started using minoxidil and it worked for me. My doctor is very young and so wasn’t totally convinced when she said the usual, “PMR last only one to two years”…and she convinced me to ween off which I did at the two year mark and now I take a naproxen every three days and that manages the stiffness , my doc said the PMR is gone but I developed arthritis…
My hair has completely changed, always fine but lots of it, now whispy and very thin. I have started on Biotin, I am aware of it’s effects on lab tests. My hairdresser told me to do conditioning hair masks and not wash as much and I thinking has helped.
