Um, I’m probably confused (it happens often) but I feel sure you changed from about 10pm to the morning just a couple of months ago, Uglow? I either replied to it (I take mine between 2 & 3am every day) or I meant to join in but got busy!

If I take at say 10 pm coated I might not get such dizzy mess in day and sleep through worse. Do you think that would help.

And can I just wait til tonight I usually take about 9.30 am or is it too long to wait

Depends what they are - but it really isn't a good idea to keep chopping and changing your dose and when you take it without discussing it with your doctor.

If you go for 36 hours between doses you will develop some symptoms - people do it accidently but it isn't advisable.

I’m not chopping and changing does! I just thought maybe someone had experience of times to avoid certain side affects!

I also said WHEN you take it. T

And this doesn't look like a typo to me:

But until two months ago you were taking it at 10pm, I had a check through the posts to see if I’d lost my memory: sorry, but only you know if that worked, or was better than you have now. I can’t really help you, I think it’s a personal thing, it’s been discussed many times on here & people take it at different times according to what suits them! You can try searching & will find lots of discussions on best time to take pred. If you’re unhappy with your current time & want to return to the time you took it until you changed two months ago, then only you can say if it was better & you want to change back to how you did it before! I tried early morning, then at bedtime, then tried 2-3am, & found that’s my best time…but not necessarily yours! I didn’t keep swapping & changing, I only did a change with some months of trying a different time. Good luck.

I wasn’t taking at 10 pm that was an error in typo

I’ll talk to my Gp see what they say. Thanks

I’m sorry if it’s a typo, but I didn’t know that! But you must have been trying to say that you took it a different time & that didn’t work…now you’ve tried another time & it doesn’t work. I think you’re right to get another appointment with your GP as it seems to me that you’ve getting a lot of problems, & we can’t tell you what to do here, we can only share experiences, but I’m not sure this will help you. As I said, I order to minimise those issues & maximise my energy & best day I take mine with a biscuit between 2 and 3 am. But I’m not advising you to try it. I get a lot of pain at night from other medical issues & have to take strong painkillers at that time, so it suits me! I think your doctor should advise you…as I suggested before your last appointment, make a list of your symptoms & bad times of day/night & get his/her help, as only they can advise you! Good luck!

It’s hard to get it right coz all docs I see generally do y agree with this forum they say we need you off pred asap and advise 2.5 mg decrease at a time. So we are kinda left all over place. But I will work out I hope. But thank you

That’s OK. I should get on to your doctors, and ask their advice as I see you’ve had lots of problems over the past few months now…and it’s their job to sort you out! If you look at the FAQs, too, you will find all the info about the tapering of pred, & others about times to take it, & coated pred vs uncoated pred.

What a kind, patient reply. If Uglow reads and takes in the sensible advice it will be a great help, I’m sure.

Kind of you. I am always happy to help anybody, and the people who devote so much time on this phone forum have helped me so much, but I find a lot of my answers on this forum in the FAQ’s or in a subject which has been asked before…after all, it all rumbles round & round…when to take pred, how much to take, when to taper etc etc!! Year after year ad nauseum! I’ve only been on here two years, they must have the patience of saints!! S x

I understand that it’s all been asked before I do try FAQ but am not over familiar with site yet. Apologies.

The thing I try to do is check the pinned posts for information, then put my query in the search field…often I find many old, similar posts to mine, & I read through the answers. If, after that, I find no answer, I post a query, after all, all of our responders are unpaid volunteers, some are even on more than one healthcare forum, & they are usually sufferers themselves, & may be unwell or in pain themselves. I just try to remember that, that’s all I meant! Go for a browse around the forum & if you read some of the older posts you may feel comforted, as you will find others who had similar issues to yourself. Hope you manage to get a doctor’s appointment soon!

Not to mention reading one's own earlier posts and questions and the replies - to remind you of what has already been suggested.

Oh, yes, that’s a good one, too, thanks, I tend to forget that sometimes! S x

Have you tried it late before? I took it before bed and slept through the worst dizzy bit. As the dose reduced so did the dizzy bit. Worked for me but the main thing is trying to be consistent.

My memory all over place my husband said I’m def worse since taking in morning. I think I’ll gradually move time to 9/10 pm going from 10 am to 11 to 12 to 2 do I don’t shock my body what do you think!

SnazzyD profile image
SnazzyD in reply to Uglow

Is this the first time you’ve tried taking it late? In a previous post you were asking so is this the first time you’ve actually tried doing it? I don’t know what is the best and I’m not sure what the shock is from. I think I took a half dose to get me through to the new time some 12 hours later and went from there. Depending how far ahead you want to go, doing it by hourly changes every day might take a while.
