Tapering

In my experience (pmr for 4 years since age 56!) you are spot on trying slow half meg reductions at a time as the medic suggestion was too fast for me. I am finally down to alternate days at 5 and 5.5 prednisone after a lot of trial and error with flare ups when going down too quickly before. Even though I worry about being on steroids for so long the doc says its relatively low dose .. not convinced by that and hope to manage 5mg per day January and 4.5/5 feb but will listen to my body - if shoulder/neck stiffness starts coming back I will step up half until i feel confident trying a small drop again. I recommend dong what works for you and seeing how each small drop feels. Best of luck x
