Every time I start to eat my jaw aches not a terrible pain but have to get past it. Also is it polymyalgia that makes you feel always not right. If it’s not one thing it’s another. Somedays vision is poor and I’m so tired. I’m never sure if lower pred makes these symptoms go or higher pred. I’m all over place today

Yes I feel just like you today ! If it’s not one thing it’s another!! Muffled ears .. or is that Long Covid! ? Bleary eyes.. dizziness. Heavy legs? Indigestion., etc etc
What do you mean by "have to get past it"?
It gets easier then goes
Doesn't sound very GCA-ish. In that case, claudication, it would steadily get worse as long as you are chewing until you have to stop - only then would it stop. Then it would start again ifyou were to start chewing again.
No only lady few days
Keep an eye on it then…..I found PMRpro’s description of jaw claudication very helpful as I often have jaw discomfort. In the past it’s been put down to osteoarthritis but of course with PMR/GCA I worry in case it’s anything else…..
Hi Uglow, Just wanted to say this us exactly how my GCA started.....I had had PMR the previous year but weaned off prednisone and the jaw stiffness followed a bout of headaches. Definitely call your Rheumy nurse and GP, here in Aus it is considered a clear sign of GCA and they would do a blood test and send you for diagnosic scans before upping the prednisone. I checked with my dentist first and it was only when my GP did a blood test we realised the CRP was high again. Apologies if this is no longer relevant, I cant see other replies but thought my experience might help. Best of luck xx
I get this, I am sorry you do too but I’m glad someone else had mentioned this. Mine too is pain when I first start to eat or sometimes talk and comes in flares. I have no diagnosis, I was asked last year by dermy if anyone had mentioned pmr to me 🤷♀️.
I was told by my GP and rheumy that if I have any jaw aches and pains again, or vision issues or headaches to go to A&E. It is not worth the risk not to do anything as it could be GCA. I think if I were you I would definitely get it checked out.
Hi, I think you should get to a doctor asap and ask to be checked for GCA. Mine started with pain in my head and my jaw hurt when I tried to eat. My doctor told me the jaw ache was specific to GCA. Along with your not quite right eyesight which is also a symptom of GCA. I would do something about it now!
