Alendronic Acid and Hypertension

I am on treatment for hypertension and my blood pressure soared after taking Alendronic Acid. According to some medical papers, it should be given with care to patients with hypertension.

Think you may be unfortunate in that, I was already on meds for high BP before GCA, and despite being on steroids and AA, mine readings were not an issue.

Guess you have discussed with doctors - and do you need to be AA - have you had a DEXAscan to check bone density?

As DorsetLady says have you had your bone density checked? It is normal to be offered a Dexascan for people with PMR/GCA taking steroids. If it does not show osteoporosis you might ask your doctor why do you need the Alendronic Acid, particularly if it seems to be causing BP problems.
