Diagnosed with PMR June 2020 after a virus in that January which was thought to have been Covid. I've now got costochondritis as well.

Well, I got it on my foot at the time of my diagnosis. Thought it was broken. Foot doc said it was because the tendons were inflamed (pre-pmr); he said they caused my footfall to be irregular which created the costochondritis. had to sit with my foot iced and elevated for a month. Now my foot is misshapen from walking on it improperly during this episode.

I've not heard of it in a foot. All the info I could find on costochondritis is that it's inflammation of the cartilage between sternum and ribs, usually on the left side which can cause some to think it's heart related.

Yes it is, and it is quite common, have a look at related posts….or type costochondritis into search facility.

I think you may be thinking of another ailment not costochondritis. Perhaps it sounds similar.

Probably so

You know what? It was capsulitis, not costochondritis. Duh. Can I blame it on my pred head???

I was thinking and thinking what it could be, I just came up with tendonitis and I was pretty sure that was not it!!!

Probably!acrabstracts.org/abstract/w...

Sarah Mackie et al say that PMR is typically extracapsular inflammation - I don't know if that is a link?

Yes the link works, there are many professional words, need to look them all up to understand what they mean😀

No, I meant the link between PMR and capsulitis.

I put the link to the paper in to show it wasn't just an idea, there is science behind it. Yes - just looking there - whoever wrote it was like me, skilled at using 1 very big word instead of more small ones. Very useful when you have word limits ;)

I don’t know the cause but I think when I exercise my upper body a lot it seems to come out. I found salicylate cream applied does wonders to relieve it. Voltaren (diclofenac) cream would also help.
