Just another little gift

Thank you so much, PMR for your generous gift of a new health scourge. The ever-growing scaly lesions that have now inhabited my body and spreading all over my chest and now my face. Can't show you photos as they would be X-rated. Dermatologist says it is Nodular Pruritis. Never heard of that one before ...along with the others. I'm told it's just another autoimmune "thing". So now I have skin wash, steroid cream (great, now on the inside and outside) and moisturiser. I have to say I've just started the routine and I feel like crap. No idea if it is the treatment, PMR et al or general malaise. Anyone else experienced this skin condition? Oh, how I need some sunshine and sea.

Sorry to see you have a 'bog-off'. Can I suggest you also drop soap, shower stuff and shampoo.

Get your GP to prescribe some Double base gel and use it - if they won't prescribe it you can buy it OTC. Follow the instructions to the letter. If you must wash your hair with shampoo - use Johnson's baby lotion. I have not used shampoo for more years than I can count.

BTW too many showers cause you to strip your skin of your natural protection.

My GP prescribes Cetraben, is there any difference?

Sorry, I don't know, all know is that is used extensively in Great Ormond Street Hospital and that information was told to me by another PMR person about 10 years ago.

Is it itchy? Just asking as you don't mention that and it's apparently a major symptom.

oh singr...the way you wrote this had me chuckling...so sorry. .but we actually laugh more at peoples misfortune sometimes, just listen to a comedians jokes and the way they put tragedies over. Sounds simply awful, and having yet another blessing CO PMR. I hope it clears soon.

I’ve been extremely itchy especially at night but I’ve put this down to the prednisone not PMR.

I’m suffering with itchy patches all over my body. Especially around my neck and top half of my body. They are crusty mounds that can join up together. Most uncomfortable. Hadn’t thought about it being part of autoimmunity.

I also have an unappealing red patch on my shoulder that my doctor says needs attention. My dermatologist appointment isn’t until December! Keep us posted on your journey with your skin condition

Oh so that’s what all these itchy lumps are. I use body shop Shea body butter which completely gets rid of the itching for me and some are now shrinking. Maybe worth a try.

So sorry to hear of your torment. How dreadful.Maybe your own 'gut instinct' is on the right track??

You say 'sun and sea?'

Magnesium bath... And a high loading dose of vitamin D3??....

The more I experience and learn everything is nutrition...and of course poisons like pesticides in our food etc...

It could be worth looking into?

Thinking of you.

My sister had something similar after the Covid vaccine. Dr seem to think it’s related. My sister thought it was mosquito bites; it was itching like crazy. The cream helped. It finally went away.

I should steer clear of the sea! All that salt waster in sore skin?? Been there, done that!

I also have scaly lesions but fewer than you describe. I appreciate your sharing your experience. I haven't tried any of the remedies I see here, but I will look into them. I don't use regular soap or any skin treatments - I agree that too many showers are not good for your skin.
