I had a kidney ultrasound yesterday so know where mine are. They are quite high up and toward the sides.

Oh nooo! Where is your pain exactly? Lower back is a big place. When you say sudden, do you mean one minute it wasn’t there, next it was? What activity have you done in the last three days?

It came on over the weekend but it’s keeping me awake I can’t get comfortable at all, just below my waist on the right at the back xx

Is the low back pain about where the baby's dimples are? Is it both sides? Any pain down your leg?

Hi it’s across my lower back just down from my waist, more to the right, no pain down leg? X

Is it tender to pressure? I'd suspect piriformis tightness/spasm irritating the sacroiliac joint.

My remedy is an 800mg flooding dose of ibuprofen and sitting with a hot water bottle over the painful area - can take hours, works well but not a quick fix.

Sounds like the sacroilliac area in the lower back. Could also be L1 to L4 discs in your spine protruding. If they are not crushing nerves and sending pain down your legs Ibuprofen gel might work with stretching exercises. You need to strengthen the surrounding muscle group but so much easier said than done when it hurts.

Hi and Thankyou for your reply, what is this sacroiliac area? Is it something that comes with taking steroids? X
