In weird and wonderful places. I knew about, but never got round to trying, electrolyte supplements. Wow! Two days dosage and a taxing, draining 18 holes of golf in 26° sun later, (when previously I would have been up all night racked with pain),I proclaim them miraculous - simple but miraculous.

The truth is - it is the magnesium that is important - more than other electrolytes. You do need to be careful about sodium and potassium overdose though,
Yes, I wondered about that-when hiking I found magnesium seemed to help. My friend who has to take high amounts of anti-rejection drugs for a liver transplant said she has to take magnesium every day as part of her regime. That set me to wondering if we pred takers also might have extra daily magnesium loss/needs? I forgot to ask my rheumatologist yesterday, darn! I'll add that to my list of questions for next visit, sigh. But I shall ask my GP whom I see tomorrow.
It does make us lose more in the urine but then it depends on the person and their diet really - not everyone finds it gets low enough to deplete the muscles too.
