Has anyone had a trigger thumb? Suddenenly every time I bent my thumb it triggered and made me shudder. Also very painful. My gp gave me a cortizone jab (very painful for a minute) which needs to be done asap but worth all the hollering as pain subsided instantly and trigger disappeared in 2 weeks. Don't hesitate to have the injection as relief was enormous and no more shudders!

Trigger Thumb
I had a trigger thumb last year. My GP told me to exercise it first and if in six months it did not go away they would give me a cortisone injection. First of all it clicked and used to leap back into position, but in the end it just seized up, it then seemed to go away. It was worse in the morning when I woke up.
Oh poor you. There's no way I could put up with mine. It was bad all day. I read online to get quick treatment for the jab to be completely successful. Hoping it lasts as most unpleasant experience. It made me feel all peculiar every time it triggered. Many people have never heard of it!
It sent a sharp electric pain through me each time it triggered. You are right it was horrible. In some ways it was better when it seized up altogether, but then it was difficult to lift things.
I developed a trigger finger (ring finger right hand) about three months ago. At first when I picked anything up, like kettle or milk jog it would lock then release itself. I now know how to pick things up. Saw rheumatologist a couple of weeks ago for PMR check up and he looked at it and pulled it around, but said there were no nodules to inject. At that time it seemed to be a bit better but this morning my whole right hand was seized up, but it has cleared now. Left hand also a bit stiff, but am currently trying to reduce Pred from 5-4 so that may be something to do with it. And as everyone has been saying, this hot weather doesnt help any of us. As an aside, my daughter in Adelaide South Australia is suffering the coldest weather since 1989 - 6C overnight.
Wow, so that's what that's called. Another weird thing I can now attribute to vasculitis. And another weird thing that I never shared with my doc as it was just one more weird thing in a long list of way too many. I must admit, though, it was never all that bad, and went away pretty quickly.
I may be the queen of trigger fingers. I have suffered with locked fingers for many years with many cortisone shots. The worst was when I carried groceries out of the supermarket and my 2 fingers locked so badly that I had to drive home with the bags in my lap, Ice cold water usually released them. I had surgery on one finger years ago and a few years later had surgery on 2 more fingers at the same time. Now arthritis set into one of the fingers and I just had a cortisone shot today while visiting my rheumatologist for my GCA.
Sounds awful.. So glad I just had one thumb and it's back to normal so far
