Does anyone suffer with chronic lower back pain ... - PMRGCAuk
Does anyone suffer with chronic lower back pain & complete loss of bladder control?
Has the loss of bladder control been investigated to rule out cauda equina syndrome?
Is it possible to find out more about Dad and Grandad’s diagnosis?I get lower back pain if I stand for any length of time. This is a long standing problem that pre-dates PMR. I had an irritated bladder with Adcal, this resolved when I stopped taking it. I didn’t/ haven’t experienced the complete loss of bladder control. This has been mentioned in a couple of fairly recent posts. It doesn’t seem to be a primary symptom of our conditions though.
I would echo PMRpro’s comments about Cauda Equina syndrome as considering there is back pain it sounds as if it could be associated. This does need sorting quite urgently as bladder and/or bowel control can be permanently affected otherwise.
Good morning ladies,I too have bladder problems,I need to know where the loos are wherever I go!
Even during the night I can be up 4 times!
I too have had spine surgery,but I m sure it isn’t that.
My back problems started after having my first son back in the 80s,but never any bladder problems.
It’s only since I ve had pmr and GCA,and pred.
I shall read up on cauda equine this evening.
Hope you are all well and safe

Since being on Pred for 3years my bladder control is now dreadful. No other contributory factors. Once my bladder becomes nearly full I cannot control leakage despite formally having a strong pelvic floor. There was a discussion about this some months ago........
Thank you!
