Urine infection

I am diagnosed with LVV/PMR since taking Pred in July I have had 3 urine infections, is this a coincidence or is there a connection? I am going back to g.p for further investigation.

Pred is suppressing your immune system so opportunistic infections from your own bugs are more likely, including in the urinary system . Have your infections been confirmed by culture in a lab, so the organism is known and it’s sensitivity to antibiotics? Sometimes they are quite hard to shift. You’ll find lots of posts about this in Related Posts or searching on this site. Pred can also irritate the bladder and urethra which won’t help either. I found it gave me cystitis symptoms as did calcium supplements, so I got some symptoms of infection without infection being present.

Snazzy has said what I was going to - are they definitely infections or cystitis and the other symptoms which CAN be due to other things - including PMR!

Urinary grit, irritable bladder syndrome, thrush, mechanical irritation ...

I had a UTI a couple of months ago. Given antibiotics for a week, it cleared up. I never realised that getting a UTI in the elderly is dangerous and can cause mental issues.
