Light too bright since cataract surgery

Cataract surgery 10 months ago due to steroids. Was PMR & GCA symptom free and stopped steroids. Three weeks later back to square one. Restarted steroids at 5 mgs. To my dismay I now know not a high enough dose. Now on 10 mgs. PMR now ok but worrying about my GCA. My question is i am very light sensitive and whilst I know cataract surgery makes you light sensitive could it be due to my GCA?

Something to ask your eye specialist I think, I can't really see any reason why GCA would contribute but maybe it does. I had light sensitivity with PMR and dry eyes but that was different.

Thank you. Makes me feel a little a little less concerned but I now have to see my eye specialist or my optician.

Could you describe more ? Mum seems to find a TV screen too bright. Looking into garden nearly always ok, but sometimes also too bright.

It may be the GCA - FRnina mentions it too. It could well be something that has never come up on the rheumies' radar - it is an eye problem so they don;t ask and at a guess would immediately say it isn't their problem ...

after cataract surgery I was prescribed light filtering glasses: they automatically darken in bright outdoor light. After operation although could read without glasses, I still wear them most of the time for protective reasons. I have PMR/GCA . (GCA causing light sensitivity not mentioned by (French)specialist).

Thank you for all your replies. I will look further into a really good pair of sunglasses at my opticians. My sight is very good now apart from the brightness.

After my cataract surgery I bought a very expensive pair of sunglasses recommended by my independent optician. I often wear them even now when it is strong sunlight. 💐
