If you catch it quickly - 1 or 2mg may suffice, but don’t assume every ache or pain is a flare, Pred has a habit of masking all sorts of normal age-related issues.

How big was your final reduction ? And how long had you been on that dose before stopping? Was your final few mg very slow?

It's difficult to say really - some of the aches may be just your body getting back to normal - but if it is recognisably PMR then don't mess about waiting for it to get worse. If you were fine on 1mg then if you catch it quickly you will usually get away with a much lower dose.

Hello Plonkerme

It depends on the dose you were taking. I wouldnt want to stop unless I was on a very low dose i.e 1mg or 2mg then I think I would perhaps take them on every other day for a few weeks. its best to reduce the dose very slowly.

Try if possible to stick it out and not go back on the Pred unless you feel you cannot tolerate the flare.
