Started Actemra 2 weeks ago on a weekly basis for GCA/PMR .My CRP which was hovering between 30 to 40 has dropped to 2.7 ...does this appear normal? I

Am on 15 mg Pred with plans to start tapering .

Because of the way Actemra works (it inhibits the production of CRP) the ESR and CRP blood markers will fall - that does not mean there is no ongoing disease activity so it is important that neither you nor the doctors are misled.

My Rheumatologist has explained it in the same way as PMRpro. Therefore, we have to be mindful of symptoms more than ever. CRP is now meaningless!

I have been on Actemra for over a year,on to weekly injections due to Covid,my only concern is i have not had blood test since March.Best of luck.xxx
