I have been suffering with temperal arteritis for four years or more. At the moment it is under control with 5mgs prednisolone daily and I am going to try to reduce this. A few months ago I developed severe pain in my left calf when walking and my GP has tried three or four pain killers without success. I was referred to the Musculoskeletal Advanced Practitioner Service who diagnosed torn muscle or tendon. They gave me exercises which dont seem to work though I am persevering. I dont know is its related to my temperal arteritis or not but I wondered is anybody has had similar problems

leg pain
Does the pain go away when you stop and rest?
It could possibly be Leg Claudication...........follow this link

Someone else will be along who knows more than me in the meantime it might be useful to follow the above link.
I had a muscle fibre rupture in my calf years ago and it did take ages to stop hurting. That was long before pred and I know pred can make muscles much more delicate. I have had tendonitis and that was due to steroids plus a quinolone antibiotic - have you any history of taking quinolone antibiotics?
But what sort of pain is it? Sharp in response to movement or does it come on after walking? Or what?
This morning. I got up at about 5 am and as soon as my foot touched the ground severe pain shot up my leg. Recently diagnosed with GCA. Coming back from downstairs with a cup of tea it happened again, resulting in spilling tea all over my stairs. Pain in the long bone of my leg and knees lasted ages. I wondered if others recognised this?
