Hi you click on the magnifying glass at the top, or click on communities. I doubt you will get the fit of both. There will be overlap but we most likely discuss the pred induced diabetes subject as much as anyone. Try your national diabetes group too.
Hi linny3, sorry I misread your post....
Steroid induced diabetes ....I think that what you want info on yes? Of course you can Google it. This diabetes site has a bit about it and also has a low carb programme (you don't have to join...just learn). If there's anything else you need to know you can follow that site and forum or ask in the diabetes forums. Search communities as I described.
My personal experience - when on my inital doses of pred (never more than 15 mg) my blood sugar shot up. It wasn't diabetes, but pretty close. I promptly stopped eating nearly all carbs from grains and potatoes, although I did continue to eat other root veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes and parsnips (I'm very thin). I already ate very few sweets so that was not a problem for me but it shocked me when I understood how hugely wheat in various forms had figured in my diet. My blood sugar dropped to a safer although still slightly elevated level, and continued to go back to normal as my dose reduced. I still eat fewer carbs than I did in the past, but have reintroduced some. As I'm nearly off pred now (fingers crossed) I hope the sugar level remains normal as it has been since I was at about 3 or 4 mg.
Thank you for the responses
