Hi there, I’ve managed to get down to 2 mg of pred by following the dead slow method and dropping half a mg each time. I’m wondering what to do now I’m at 2 as there isn’t a 1.5 mg tablet?

I used a pill cutter and was prescribed extra 1 mgs. Fiddly but worth it.

Thank u I’ve got a pill cutter so just done that. Thought they’d be too small to cut but it was ok 🙂

Best way to cut 1mg tabs is break them in half. I worked in pharmacy for 19 years and some tabs are easier to break than be demolished by the pill splitter. I break several at a time and put them in a tiny jar. Of course these are uncoated tablets. We would do this for customers if requested.

If you are on plain white pred you can cut them.

Or double the DSNS method by doing each step at least twice, more if you need to. One of the reasons for developing the DSNS approach was because the enteric coated tablets only came in 2.5mg and 5mg versions in those days!

No, I’ve just fiddled about with a pill cutter.

If you find a kindly Pharmacist and give them " puppy eyes" I have found that you can ask them to take your pills out of the packaging and they will split them for you and give them to you in a appropriate air tight pill bottle ready to go . My Pharmacist , does this , and has been known to give me a pitying look and pat me on the head when I have passed back stuff for him to split for me , but I don't mind, it saves me a job and gives me time to enjoy one of his lollies while I wait ! 😋😂😂😂

I THINK they are meant to do it if you can't manage yourself.

Geraint just likes to pat me on the head I think.😋😂😂😂

You definitely shouldn't have to pay for this service either , as I have read that some people are being asked to do in a few recent posts.

If your Pharmacist says they have to charge for it it's a good idea to find another one that gives the service for Free.
