Thanks to the encouragement i got from this forum, i applied for a blue badge and today heard that i had got one! It may have been because I also have a hip replacement that went wrong leaving me a limp and resultant backache, but the extreme fatigue must have helped and i took your advice and mentioned cars parking too close. So thanks for all the advice..

Excellent! Do you have the mobility part of disability benefit or did you apply without it?

No - I replied without it. Hope it might encourage others to apply.

Great Point! You don't have to be on any other benefits to get a Blue Badge it is all about your parking needs and isn't Means Tested.

Good news , you will find it invaluable. I have just had to renew mine, and I think it’s taken me nearly three days to complete it and get the necessary documents together!!! well worth it though.

Hi, did you get a blue badge because of our conditions???

That and a wonky hip. I think the PMR was the main thing- the utter exhaustion and mention you can’t climb over the gear stick if the driver’s door has a car parked too close to it. I should go for it!

O but i discussed it with her and she encouraged me to apply, so i gave her name, as well as my Rheumy, and Orthopaedic consultant. Get as much evidence as you can, letters from hospital. You have to photograph them so you can insert them into the application, its quite easy as they tell you how to do it. See also what i said to Margaret 1951. Do go for it and good luck! I live in Lancs and each authority is different.
