The ophthalmologist wonderful high intelligent woman, worked with my mom in the past very kind not to mention knowledgeable, confirmed my GCA. She is retina specialist so I knew how really well her work , helped my mom with her retina problems due to complications of diabetes. She told me I was not quite under control to go up to 80mg a day until I see rheumy on november 18. My rheumatologist also agreed with diagnosis and also has agreed to that at which he is possibly going to put me on actemera (hope I spelled that correctly) A lot depends on my insurance. Medically necessary situation most of the time they agree. Will let all of you when I visit my physician on November 12 what he says about all of this. He doesn't get a choice if this is what I have to do keep from other GCA problems then so be it, my life is riding on the line not my doctor's.

Having a doctor who is really aware of GCA say it is helpful - did she explain her thinking?

Yes after and your of pure examination she went throughly into what she could see in my eye and why this was not a stroke and to why. There must be something they can see that pictures for inside your eye cannot. I ask every question I could think of and she answered every questions she is good.

In many cases I wish I would have someone else that to ask questions I would have thought to ask.
