Diagnosed May. Decreasing Pred from 15mg now at 11.

3 months for appointment with rheumatologist, who prescribed Azathioprine.

I feel to soon to go down this road, what o others think?

After such a short time (in the great scheme of PMR at least) and having got to 11mg by now I wouldn't take aza. There is absolutely no study evidence that it works to reduce the pred dose in PMR - and it adds a layer of potential side effects. Any claims are what is called anecdotal,

The received wisdom is that only Pred helps our conditions.

How are you?

Have there been having problems or something to suggest that the current regime is worth ditching in place of a drug with its own problems and less of a track record?

Hi and welcome,

It seems a bit soon to start you on Azathioprine to be honest. What was the reasoning? If you do have to go on it make sure you get regular bloods, it played havoc with my liver function tests. How do you feel on the 11mg? Better? What is your reduction speed as well? Hope you go on ok. There are a lot of wise and experienced people on here, hopefully you will find it helpful.
