Update "Hospital" (Geriatric ward)!

I've been refused! I'm too healthy!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You've got to laugh! It tickled me no end.

Was called for a pre exam, twisted, bent, bloods, etc etc. Result "you are remarkably agile for your age".

Suddenly I feel young again. PMR, Polyarthritis don't show so I'm classed as a healthy 80 year old. OK by me.💃🕺🏃‍♀️🚶‍♀️🍾🍷🥃🍸

So, you haven't got to learn how to be ‘old’ ~ that’s great news Constance 🌷

Just the sort of good news I needed this morning. Well done you.

You won't be needing the purple then!

Constance13 profile image
Constance13 in reply toscats

Pale colours for me (always have been) except for a bright red jacket. I really must get into the 21st century.😂

scats profile image
scats in reply toConstance13

Now you can really teach us how to be an old woman, fighting back 21st century style!

Now, now Scats. There is nothing wrong with my favourite colour purple! I have bright purple hair, and wear lots of bright purple, with purple handbag and shoes. Looks great (so I am told weirdly by many shop assistants in particular) especially with a splash of teal, turquoise and / or lime green. I am indeed a vision of purple. :) :) :)

No I love purple! Did you not see our first discussion on this topic. A lot of us wear purple here. See constances last post.

No I didn't see posts. No worries. My reply meant as tongue in cheek banter. Glad you love purple. :) :) :)

Yes , you are commenting about one of my favourite poems when I was young I read it and decided that I was going to be like that when I grow old.

Hope I get that far!!!😋

scats profile image
scats in reply toBlearyeyed

Me too on both counts. I made the same decision years ago, and I hope you live to be old!

Constance13 profile image
Constance13 in reply toscats

How old is "old" nowadays?

scats profile image
scats in reply toConstance13

Older than I am!

Old enough to know better , young enough to think about doing it anyway but wise enough to not bother in case you put a hip out !😋😂😂😂

I don't think it's age specific anymore , my youngest daughter has the same philosophy and she's only 17 , hence her nickname , Grandma!!😋

Isn't it like middle age? Ten years older than you are now?

Constance13 profile image
Constance13 in reply toPMRpro

Wow! I've got another 10 years to live it up before I become decrepit!💐💃🏃‍♀️🥃

PMRpro profile image

No - it's a rolling figure: every year it goes up on your birthday ... ;)

When Daughter 2 was born in Germany she weighed a mere 1090g/2lbs 4 oz. They rushed her from the theatre in the obstetric department to the baby intensive care unit - who looked at her and said they weren't taking her, nothing wrong with her, just small! Which left the baby unit in a panic as they'd never had such a small baby to look after before!!

Why did the doctor want you admitted again?

Constance13 profile image
Constance13 in reply toPMRpro

Been very unsteady on my feet. 4 UTIs since April (seeing specialist on Monday), bloods a bit erratic, breathless (typical signs of a healthy woman)!😂

Made my day though!

Bet it did!!!

💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼👏🏽

I just refuse to be old... On my birthday, I will tell people that it is the 40th Anniversary of my thirtieth birthday...LOL.

I don't even bother with counting ;)

Constance13 profile image

Actually I really can't understand that people don't seem to want to get/be old. Why? Every age has it's golden moments. I love not to have to go....., eat....., speak to that idiot, listen to rubbish on the radio, etc etc.

🥃🍾🍸 Here's to enjoying the rest of my life.

At least no-one makes a thing about being out of step when you aren't perceived as young!!! I do as I like - and I'm proud of the wrinkles - they came from smiles and experience.

in reply toConstance13

I think my life is basically like a wrinkly teenagers. Everything has got better in my life as each decade goes by. So my body gone to pot, but it means that instead of whizzing through one thing onto the next, I spend more time enjoying what I am doing.

I was actually quite chuffed when I achieved 70. 👳‍♀️

Constance13 profile image
Constance13 in reply toHeronNS

So was I! My brother died when he was 62, my sister when she was 65.😟

wobblypat profile image
wobblypat in reply toHeronNS

So was I. At 63 I was on my way out, at 73 I am still here.

Actually, mentally I feel to be about 30. Unfortunately my body disagrees!

Me too!!!

70 is the new 50!

in reply toTelian

60 is the new 40....as long as it goes no younger....you can be weirder when you start getting older.

Telian in reply to

I agree - and also you’re as young as you feel. I don’t feel old even with all the health problems.

I listen to my OH when he tells me I don’t look my age! That’s the only time I do!

in reply toTelian

I remember my mum saying she got shock when she looked in the mirror cos she felt 16. It is funny how inside bears no relation to outside. At 46 I felt 102....and looked 120. ¯\_ಠ_ಠ_/¯

Telian profile image
Telian in reply to

Surely not!

I agree with you and so does my friend - she says it’s good to feel young but tell your body that - it just ignores us and does it’s own thing!

I always recall my elderly aunt having her cataracts done but still wore her glasses, which she didn’t need! When I asked her why she said because she didn’t like what she saw!

in reply toTelian

😂😂😂 bless. My grandma pointed at her self and asked who it was.. you of course..I look as old as Methuselah!!!! She was born in 1899 so was in her 70s or 80s.

Telian profile image
Telian in reply to

Bless her! Think they all had something to say about themselves back then......

My Aunt was 21 days short of her 100th birthday when she died two years ago. She'd already received her card from the Queen so we kept it. She was in her 90s when she commented re her appearance - she had a great sense of humour and chuckled after she'd said it!

Then I must still be a child at 57! Roll on those teenage years 😂

There is joy in looking at everything through the eyes of a child 🤣

You’re 21 with 36 years experience!

Telian profile image

I’d take that Constance - must have given you a real chuckle. Just shows there’s lots more worse off than us. Don’t get too clever though! 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♂️🧘‍♂️

Constance13 in reply toTelian

Since then I have realised how lucky I am. I felt really 'yucky' when I went to the doctor, 3rd UTI in four months (e-coli), PMR playing up, arthritis bad, etc etc.

When I was refused as being "too healthy" I had to laugh and thought "what must those poor people in the geriatric ward be going through"?

I am at home, can do what I want to do, when I want to, go out for an expensive meal, annoy my husband.😂 Life's great!

Telian profile image
Telian in reply toConstance13

That's a much needed boost for you Constance - live for each day now - and cheers to your doctor for sending you 'to learn how to be old'.

Great news. xxx
