Hi everyone, have successfully been on 1mg for a while now and feel ready to tr y for zero. What would be the best way to do it do you think? I can't cut the pills in half as they are coated.

I am so nervous and jus t hope it is successful. All advice will be gratefully received.

Thank you, Jenny x

That’s exciting! I am new so not experienced at all but you could do two days 1mg, 1 day none. Or you could do morning one day, evening the next to stretch out the time between pills. Will be curious what experienced members say! Good luck!!

Hurrah! Go for it Jenny! What about every other day for a week? Then increase your no Pred days each week, listening to your body at each step. There is no rule that says we can’t take the odd 1 mg when the need arises.

You are right to be cautious every mg counts. Good luck. Let me know if you try this ( I am not there yet and it’s theoretical). 3 years 5 months PMR on 4 mgs Pred. X

Use one of the slow tapers -

It isn't any different from any other taper step - just don't rush it! This is such a low dose there is no need. And while not wanting to be a party pooper: be aware. There have been plenty for whome 1mg was keeping things under wraps. Don't deny any return of symptoms.

Hello. Is there a reason why you can’t do normal Pred now? Pred was like lava in my stomach but now just half a mg is fine. Good luck!

Good luck , be calm and confident on your last step and take it slowly , with the slow taper , but also extend it out if you need to .

I achieved the big lovely zero by using the DSNS slow taper recommended here (couldn’t have done it without this method). Pred free 3 months and counting .......

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your support. I will start reduction next week. I am so nervous as I tried to get off a few weeks ago and it didn't work. I had to increase for a few days, but have been on 1mg for a while, so time to try again I think.

Wish me luck, Jenny x

Just try and try again with a month or so between. One day it will work. It is such a low dose there is no point trying to force it - that way lies disaster!
