Leg spasms are listed as a possible symptom of PMR and Fibromyalgia. I wonder if a Magnesium supplement would help? It certainly seems to improve episodes of cramp. If you google leg spasms in PMR there is information, however, I haven’t, in a brief search found a separate remedy. Perhaps your Pred dose is insufficient. Good luck with your appointment.

Had terrible night spasms and cramps when in bed and on around 12mg pred. I would have to get up and try to walk them out. Now on7mg do not have any more. Can be a side effect of pred. Magnesium might help but do not exceed recommended dose

There is evidence Pred affects muscle/tendons and makes them more susceptible to injury. For example I strained an Achilles tendon a while back and had 2 or 3 weeks of hellish cramps in one leg at night - so bad I hardly got any sleep during that period. Eventually it simmered down but nothing worked in terms of OTC pain relief or recommended supplements at the time - in fact my GP prescribed me some Oxycontin and for some strange reason even THAT didn't help and I have never taken any other opioids. So I hope you can find some effective relief because I understand this can be very nasty indeed !

I get more cramps than spasms. My GP prescribed Quinine Sulfate which is brilliant, but rather frowned on nowadays.

I use a homeopathic remedy called "restless leg", contains small amt of quinine, and works well for me.

Also careful to get my magnesium tablet every day...and drink water.

I take magnesium pill, about 400mg, in the evening and believe this helps.

I sympathise with you, leg cramps can be horrendous. Like others, I now take a magnesium supplement and make sure I stretch my calf/hamstring muscles daily. The cramps have eased in severity though I still wake with the "beginnings" of them often ... and can shake them off quickly. However you treat them, good luck.

I use spray on magnesium. It works good. Also soak in Epsom Salts.

Magnesium supplements should be an early port of call! Pred makes you lose more through the kidneys - so you need more to top the muscle levels up.
