Three of us, lady-friends, went to Alabama beach for the winter 2017/18. We all stayed in different locations but met for luncheons, dinners, etc. We all left April 1, for our homes in Michigan. In May, #1 was diagnosed with PMR. In January #2 was diagnosed with a PMR. This month of June, #3 was diagnosed with GCA.

If you are all roughly of the same age and background that is the most likely common factor. But at least you have each other to support yourselves, which is more than many have. Maybe your friends were also more aware if the illnesses which helped a quick diagnosis.
Oh, by the way - welcome - and a bit more information about you would be good.
That is strange, seems more than a coincidence. Since one of you already had PMR maybe it was too easy to reach that conclusion based on symptoms. A lot of doctors won’t look further if you convince them.
I just read this and it does give pause for thought:
Are you all racking your brains trying to work out what you ate that might have brought it on?!😋😂😂😂
In seriousness though , how very odd , I have heard of close friends and twins having simultaneous injuries before but who knows perhaps it happens with illness too.
Or North American doctors have just been re-informed about PMR and we are older so this has become their catch-all diagnosis. Not to say we don't have some problem--this is real, debilitating and painful -but are we being lumped?
