Has anyone else had knobbly inner arm muscles.

Could this be proof of PMR? I should be seeing my rheumatologist this month but he is unsure that I have it despite all the symptoms on diagnosis I couldn't turn over or get out of bed etc.

You really shouldn’t have to prove that you have PMR if you have all the classic symptoms. Have you had a trial of Prednisalone for a week? That would confirm it I think. It’s good that you are seeing your Rheumatologist soon. He/she can check your knobbly arm muscles. It’s not something that I am aware of being part of PMR. Having said that, my body is a bit of a stranger to me and I could take up permanent residence in the doctor’s waiting room. Good luck marigolds, sorry you are suffering! 🌼

The response to pred isn't really a confirmation - it is just another brick in the wall of clues ... Other things will respond to pred, especially at higher doses. It is a bit hit and miss in that 15mg may not be enough to get a result for some patients - 30mg OTOH would achieve a result for other things.

No probs. I just though someone else had exactly the same issue.

It doesn't hurt but it is in muscles where it started before taking the pred

I was assuming that you were experiencing the symptoms of untreated PMR.

The muscles are quite prominent and hard and feel not very smooth I will ask Rhumy when I get to see him, could be something else. Thanks for your help. Beryl

Good luck Beryl!

I haven't heard of knobbles being part of PMR in the strictest sense. And it depends what you mean by knobbly. I wondered if you had an infection recently and could they be swollen lymph nodes? You should see the dr about if persistent.

Perhaps more likely is you have "fatty Lumps" or lipoma (luh-poma). I have several of these on the backs of my thighs around my hamstrings these feel really knobbles. I also have them on my forearms and underneath my lower arm and one near my right armpit seems to be coming. These are perfectly harmless lumps of fat ranging from pea size to one on my arm that is @5inches in length. Either way it's worth checking them out. 🌻

Thank you both for replies. I have had this before it is like a knobbly feeling on hard muscle surface. Must be something the muscles feel quite strong.

I was wondering if it's little tears in the muscle fibres healing. It is worth showing them to the Dr. I went with several my lumps just to reassure myself. I seem to get a new lump every couple of days!

Some time ago I had the same thing on and off with the bone that goes from wrist to elbow (don't know what it is called) showed it to the doctor and she just said it was nothing to worry about.
