I'm finding it difficult to get back to sleep after taking my pred at the usual time of 5am. I assume this is because of the early dawn . Would it make a difference to my reduction programme - just going from 7.5. to 7 DSNS - if I switched to taking it at 7.30 am? I'm sure I read somewhere that the night dose was good for the avoidance of problems with the adrenals. This is the smoothest reduction I've done so far and I don't want to mess it up.

Changing time of daily pred dose

Sorry - don't quite get what you mean. The only real difference that you are likely to find if you take pred 2.5 hours later is that if the inflammatory cause of the PMR symptoms is still active, it will be that much later before you get any relief. If your dose lasts over 24 hours it should be fine.
If you were changing from night to morning or vice versa, I’d say pause your reduction for a week while you stabilise.
But 2.5 hours? Shouldn’t make too much difference. My daily dose is between 10pm and midnight, it varies.
But add on 2.5 hours to morning stiffness if you get that, as it’ll take the extra 2.5 hours to achieve relief.
Did you mean change time you take pred to 7.30, as stated? Or did you mean 7.30pm?
Hi Maria,
I’ve always taken mine after breakfast around 830 am. I have not had any problems and due to the food in my tummy I have not had any stomach problems. I don’t take any antacids etc.
That’s just my experience and we’re all different. Wishing you the best! fm
