Under arm red marks!

So in a week where I was feeling chipper - bloods all normal and cholesterol 6.0, I awake today with two large red marks under my arm pit (sorry to say they look like massive love bites and they certainly aren't down to that). No pain. Haven't shaved. What on earth is it anyone? Please advise! And thanks

Are they itchy? New soap? New shower gel? New deodorant?

No - thanks x

Changed your pred and are they enteric coated..........if so wash the dye off........sometimes it can cause a rash. Different manufacturers make the tablets in different ways, although they are the same contents.

No change to meds - thanks

We just don’t trust our bodies do we? That’s why we freak out at the slightest thing. Autoimmune diseases are a shock on every level. Skin is thinned and sensitive, could it be a seam on your night things?

Pongo13 profile image
Pongo13 in reply to SheffieldJane

Don’t think it’s a seam but good thought x

We’re you doing anything yesterday that involved your arms? It could be that bruising some people get with steroids?

Nothing unusual at all - thanks

Thrush?

Pongo13 in reply to Soraya_PMR

Well, pharmacy recommends canesten and monitor but wasn’t unduly concerned!

Soraya_PMR profile image
Soraya_PMR in reply to Pongo13

Yes canesten will do the trick. It’s a pred thing.

To quote my GP, “you’re on pred, you’ll get thrush”. Such an empathetic chap 😉

Um - I've not yet ...

Soraya_PMR profile image

Are you suggesting my GP is wrong? 😮

You’ll not be the first! 😉

My plague was oral thrush, he said that ^^ immediately before declining to give me a script. I bought Daktarin which IMO works better than that nystan gloop. Same Dr that prescribed the nystan for my nether regions (but that’s AB’s, not pred.) [antibiotics for any NZ rugby supporters!!!]

Not unknown ;)

But this assumption that EVERYONE on pred gets osteoporosis, gains weight, gets thrush etc etc really is irritating...

Soraya_PMR in reply to PMRpro

Yeah! I’m sure I had the osteoporosis ‘threat’ too, all part of his AA spiel.

Never had the weight one.

You don’t know what you’re missing!

Purse tracks?

Pongo13 profile image
Pongo13 in reply to GOOD_GRIEF

No - never heard of this before! Thanks x

I made it up just for you.

But if you wear your purse on your shoulder under that arm, that could be the culprit.

Pred can make our skin very tender and prone to bruising.

Love you! Doh! Thought it was a new ailment! X

I was trying to work out what you had meant that predictive text had turned into purse tracks 😂🤣

I re-read this today - you say purse - I say handbag .... NOW I get it! Double doh!!!! (And I use other shoulder!) x

Worn any new unwashed clothing that could have chafed? If they worsen see your GP - who knows with this illness.

Goodness - unwashed clothing?! My mother will turn in her grave if she thought I was doing such a thing! Nope! Can’t be that! But thanks x

You missed a word out NEW - do you wash all new clothes before wearing? i don't.

Pongo13 profile image
Pongo13

Ah - I missed the crucial word - no I don’t - but I haven’t had anything new for quite a bit .... no point buying whilst chubbed out on the ol’ Steroids....

in reply to Pongo13

Hi pongo did it get sorted and was it thrush?

If you had watched a programme about a murder where DNA from people at a factory in China or India was discovered in underwear, (including gusset), bought in the usa you might consider it. Let's say it made me more vigilant. 😂😂😂

Sorry....my fault it's a month old post. I just wondered if it was thrush. I get those kind of patches and it is. Wasn't on the forum back then.

I do the same! Hot tub arrived last week and pristine so far! Rash has gone but can see where it was! Think I’m recovered thank you! Not thrush (I don’t think)
