Access to injection

Yesterday I really overdid it, perhaps after overdoing a few days which included a visit to dentist. I got dizzy and lightheaded and I got confused in that I could understand words but not sentences. It passed within a half hour and all ok.

Wondering was this a threatened adrenal crisis and if so should one have access in the house to an injection. I do intend to visit GP and see what he says.

Hi Harbel, My dentist warned me that I could have a reaction to the stress of dental treatment and possibly pass out. He gave me anesthetic without Adrenaline. This was before I was diagnosed with Adrenal deficiency, I think. He just had knowledge of my condition and steroids. I had forgotten until you posted.

The bit he didn’t mention was not understanding sentences, just odd words. This needs to be reported to you doctor, to discount anything serious.

Thanks Sheffield Jane, that is interesting. Yes I found the experience frightening and I will report it to the doctor. Thanks for your advice.

What dose of pred are you on? I doubt you need an adrenal pack but it is something you do need to discuss with your doctor because a short-lived episode like that can be the only sign of a TIA (transient ischaemic attack) or mini-stroke as they are often known. Sorry to sound so dramatic but it is the reality.

Hi Harbel

A prompt visit to the GP is in order as PMRPro says it could have been a TIA

They are a warning sign & must never be ignored. What dose of Pred are you on?

Thanks Mrs Nails and PMRpro. My doctor does not seem to be any surer than I. He suggests that I may have overdone things. I think he at first may have been thinking TIA too. He said blood pressure normal, heart ok etc. I am on 12.5mg pred but also since prior to pmr on 40mg statins and 75mg aspirin. I also went on low carb and lost nearly two stone since going on pred last sept. BMI now 22. Even had he thought it was TIA I am unsure what else he could have suggested. Thanks for help and support.

It’s so easy to overdo things & our body sometimes bites back! My friend had a TIA in the Office trying to cover my job! She only had the one & has been fine since.

I’m no expert but as you are on 12.5mg l wouldn’t have thought it likely that you were feeling Adrenal Fatigue but you never know.

Thanks DadCue. I had stents put in heart nine years ago aged 53 at the time, but just got checked out as a sibling needed them. Was not symptomatic at the time. Have been on the aspirin and statins since on cardiologists instructions. My father died of heart attack and my mother did get a stroke . I can't change the genetics bit. I have had bloods done for several things since Pmr. Thanks so much for your help.
