Yes, quite a few. If you are on Pred it can make you immunocompromised and more susceptible so you need to speak to your doc today if you think have it because antivirals need to be started as soon as possible in the first 72 hours.
Yes, I realised it started last night. I get recurring shingles on my arm. I wish you better.
I had a mild case 2 months ago. Antiviral meds dried them up in a week or so but then had a flare afterwards. Too much for my poor body.
Hi, unfortunately I have had shingles twice. I was too late to benefit from antivirals due to late diagnosis by GP. I do hope you get help quickly.
Take care.
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I was also too late for antiviral medication. It’s really confusing now as to which is the worst of the two evils: suppressed immune system due to predneselone which keeps the Polymyalgia in check or being open to so many infections in the future. Getting old definitely makes one vulnerable.
Hi, I agree with you but as I have GCA in addition to the Polymyalgia there really isn’t an option. Just do your best to take each day as it comes and have things in place for when the minor infections come along. I drink lots of water, no caffeine, no alcohol. I always wash my hands on returning home when I have been out, (my background was public health) these steps seem to help me out. Good luck x
Thank you so much for your reply. You sound like a very strong person in spite of what you have to deal with. I wish you all the best for the future.
