Hi Ventdunord, I tried to take Pregablin twice, both times

The pain was worse, fingers swelled, blood pressure went up. Stomach was affected. I won't take it again.

I have had PMR for 15 months. The Rheumy thought I might have fibromyalgia!!

Wishing you good luck

Lyon 70.

Thanks for your feedback. Yes I suspected that might be the case. I have been prescribed Gabapentin previously and like Angiejnz, I could have auditioned as an extra for "The Walking Dead", and so quickly stopped taking it.

I might well decide not to take the Pregabalin either. Thanks again

I had a bad bad bad reaction to it's sister drug gabapentin, made me suicidal and I know it's u side effect of pregabalin too. Rare but I got it badly, hope you don't!

Thanks for the reply Angiejnz, I think I shall disregard my GP's advice and not take it.

Why is it being suggested? It does nothing for PMR - it may do something for fibromyalgia.

Thanks PMRpro. As you have often said on this forum, some GP's (and Rheumies) are clueless about PRM and know far less than long term sufferers.

I am taking Pregabalin but it is NOT in any way connected to PMR as I am in remission from it. I was started on 75mg and then increased to 100mg. I had mild side effects such as dizziness but these diminished after a short time. I thought I would mention this because Pregabalin is not all bad.

Ok thanks for the advice. I might try them if the pain gets worse as I'm not convinced that the current pain is PMR related. Best regards

I am on 150mg pregabalin twice a day for a different autoimmune condition. It took me a long time to get to the right mg to give me pain relief. I found, at each increase I would feel a bit 'off my head' for a few days. Been on the current dose for a couple of years now with no obvious downsides.

Thanks for your comments. I started on 75x2 mgs a day with no discernible side effects so far except for a little drowsiness which I can cope with. As I've only been taking them for three days I'm not sure as yet if it will be a high enough dosage for me to keep reducing the Prednisolone. Time will tell no doubt. Most GP's are set against increasing Prednisolone during a "flare" but they are not the ones suffering the aches & pains.

Not what you're looking for?
