Has anyone started with GCA with these sympton?

Sore mouth with very severe pain in throat , pain in face and side of head.. After nine years I have these symptons. No other body pain and as physically well as I have been in years. J

Sorry to hear you are suffering. Are you still on Methotrexate and if so have you had your bloods done recently?

Thanks for kind words. yes, I am still on methotrexate. Going for bloods next week, so will find the answer maybe. Every thing is harder if you feel poorly. Can't bear to think it is that.

Are these symptoms since your last blood test? If so, I think you should go to the doc sooner rather than later, as may be a sign that your white cells have dropped, a side effect of Methotrexate.

Hi,

My GCA was tingly all over scalp, pains down both sides of head, like pair of bands starting at back of neck, up over top of head and down face parallel with eyes. Aching jaw when eating.

Whether you think yours is GCA or not, you do need to get medical advice.

Hello

I have GCA. Am fighting it with the beastly prednisolone. Your symptoms are a bit different to mine, but you just CAN'T afford to do nothing. I didn't know what it was, and the Doc misdiagnosed it as trigeminal neuralgia, and gave me some codeine. Result - permanent blindness in my right eye. I am on preds to try to save the other eye. The Doc is (hopefully) likely to put you on preds - just in case it's GCA. At least until you have a temporal artery biopsy to try to define what you have. It's a bit of a helter-skelter, I'm afraid.
