Endo...... ....breathlessness....Addison's ..update

Spoke to the Endo today and said I was taking 15mg Pred for the breathlessness, as worried about Addison's Disease. He said 15mg was adequate for it, but I should see my gp. If there's still infection, I could increase to 20 or 30mg for the COPD. I am taking 20mg from tomorrow to see if that helps. There hasn't been any relief on 15mg. After being housebound for 3 days, I had to get things done in town. Gosh, the looks and stares I got from my very audible huffing and puffing, makes me want to stay home, where things, won't get done. I have a gp appt Thursday, which I booked a month ago. In this 10 min appt, I am waiting for DEXA result, abdominal scan result...all to be discussed and the breathlessness. I wonder whether I should book ESR with all the increasing dosages?

You'd make a good pair with my husband! He's coughing and spluttering again - and can barely crawl into the village. I really think he needs steroids - so does paramedic daughter but it has never been mentioned.

Didn't you say your GP told you NOT to increase the pred dose?

Yes, he didn't think it was necessary! wONDER WHAT HE SAYS tHURSDAY? i FoRGOT TO ADD THAT THE RESULT OF Friday's repeat blood test was that the creatinine was 116, and the Endo was satisfied with that.I am doing 20mg from tomorrow. If he starts that no increasing Pred malarkey, Thurs, I will see someone else.

It does sound as if the infection is persisting. I hope you have a satisfactory doctor’s appointment. Try to rest now you’ve done your jobs.

Thanks Jane. Jobs never seem to be done. I have 12 flower containers waiting to be filled....so late this year.

I did my flower pots only to find slugs all over some of them in the wet last night. My sweet peas almost destroyed. Murderous rage d**n things!!,

Sharp sand and eggshells around the bottom of my lupins seems to have saved them. No it’s never done!

Try a beer trap Jane. Sink a margarine tub filled with cheap beer. Or use bread & tub filled with water. They love it & drown or you can collect them!

Thanks for this. Snails are particularly ingenious. My son is a Buddhist so my murder has to be clandestine.

But they die happy :-)

You can do something similar with wasps - using a 2l plastic bottle with beer and washing up liquid in the bottom. You cut off the top third and reverse the bit you've cut off to make a funnel. They get in the bottle easily enough, land on the beer and sink. Even if they don't, getting out is rather more difficult...

😈 thanks for the tips.

Quite right PMR. It's just the embarrassment in the grounds of a pub!!!

in reply to SheffieldJane

No good chucking them over the fence. They can climb to the rooftops! It's a war out there with best intentions!

Someone actually did some research - they have to be more than a certain distance away. Then they get lost...

Sorry - that was snails...

Hope they were rescued PMR ! ( Just trying to be understanding & right on!) Sure they could have a big role in munching down waste products. But it's not in their nature to be co-op in the plant world!

If you take them to wasteland - a hedgerow (are there such things still?????) and gently lay them in the grass no-one could object to that could they? And they are a long way from YOUR garden...

A beautiful tall lupin head just fell off, bitten straight through, the snail braved a moat of sharp sand and WD40 all over the pot 😠

Oh no! And I bet that snail is trying out for snail Olympics. Or is s/he a former snail now?

The trouble is they were mythologised during our childhoods as cute little fellows.

I have no such compunctions - they are a wonderful reason to eat garlic butter...

OMG do you mean it’s toxic to lupins ? I just greased the outside of the chimney pots so the little blighters would slide down again. 😱

A tip on the Internet.

Are slugs and snails sentient beings? I'm not sure they are (but maybe I simply don't understand this:

Sorry karools yet again I have failed to stay on message but in a sense it was your 12 plant pots waiting to be filled that set me off. 🙏
