belated update hospital scan...no dignity...

With everything going on, forgot to mention that the hospital, where I had the abdominal scan, and the lack of privacy/dignity from the 2 men doing scan, rang me 1 evening, last week. She was the Manager for the Radiology Dept. I would've preferred a letter or email, and should have said so, but didn't. She was very apologetic. Said that a female nurse will be made available. The dr, in question, the relative of MB...where is he these days? Dr......ski was, apparently 'unavailable', but the matter would be taken up with him,UPON HIS RETURN. I was wrong about the lights being off. They have to be off, it seems.It also sounded as if gowns were going to be the norm. The male nurse, that day, had been spoken to about the incident. At least they did get back to me.

You could ask for a confirmation of the conversation in writing. There is a reason that she dealt with your complaint verbally. But if you are satisfied, let it go, I’ve become a very grumpy old woman. Maybe you are more serene and anyway you’ve got enough on your plate without falling out with the hospital. Take care. X

Let's hope the lurking nurse adopts a better Bessie manner. Agree with SJ that us your are satisfied with that verbal assurance that's fine. But if you are still a bit perturbed then ask for written confirmation. You do have a lot on your plate so having resolution of one issue might help.

I was so annoyed when I saw your first post. I have recently had a lot of internal investigations to try and find out why I quite suddenly developed anaemia all of these were carried out by female staff who all left me alone to dress and undress. On one occasion a male staff nurse was present as he was being trained in the procedure but I was asked right at the start if I had any problems with that, he was very kind and helpful just like the rest of the staff just as they should be. I would get their apology in writing just in case they are avoiding leaving a paper trail. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience it shouldn’t happen to anyone. All good wishes. Dot.

Well, I was like a dog who couldn't leave a bone at first, but, as each day presents other situations, I have had to leave it, without adding to stress.I am wondering, though, whether they will contact me, again, after the mysterious dr makes an appearance? Chances not.

I would be grateful having got a phone call - had it been a letter it would have taken a lot more time for them and had the potential to "get lost". As it is - write to her and thank her for her phone call and ask if you could have the information in writing - at least an email. That covers all bases.
