Lumber puncture

So today a neurologist came in at 11:00. Did a lumber puncture right in the room. Now it’s a waiting game. Which I hate. Gave me gababapentin. For headache. I only had 2 doses and I can’t tell if it’s working. Or how long it takes to kick in. I’m hoping to go home tomorrow. But my right leg is bothering. I think when the doc went it. He might of hit my nerve that goes to my leg. So now every time I take a step pain shoots up my back. I don’t know anything anymore. All I know is I want the headache to go away and be my self.

It’s one thing after the other isn’t it? It must stop soon.

Lumbar puncture can give you headache, back Pain and pain down legs, so although you’ve had enough, don’t despair just yet that the headaches hasn’t gone properly. I had a stonking headache after an epidural some hours after it was removed.

LP isn't as bad as many would say, I have to be honest. People go into a room for LP and go out. I was initially very apprehensive because of so many neg comments on LP. But repeating 5 times. YIKES.

Ooh HALI12, You make a LP sound like nothing, but it would be a big deal for me. I had a failed epidural, years ago, and that still haunts me. I do so wish they would say what's the matter with you, treat it, and you can have peace of mind, and go home.

How are you feeling today? Any news? Hope things are less uncertain and unknown and painful.

No news I’m out of the hospital now. They are all clueless. Just gave me neurontin. Meds and call headache specialists. Lymes disease is what they came up with. And severe headache 🤕

My dad had the leg pain shooting into his hip also after spinal tap when he was diagnosed with GCA. It did go away in a day or two🤗

Pleased you've had a straight forward tap, and you will know something definitive soon. I can say it now you've had it done but I had a bad time with this - apparently my back has too many bones in the way and they couldn't get in - kept hitting the nerves sending electric shock down the legs like nowhere to go! I did scream. As a last resort I had to sit up and bend over the side of the bed to stretch my spine. Procedure took 50 minutes instead of 10/15. They did say it was not the norm. The only thing that didn't go wrong was I didn't have a dry tap, which was a blessing as I would not have gone back.

After it all I got up and walked out as it nothing had happened, felt like I'd been dragged through a hedge backwards but no headache! - had to catch the tube and a train home taking nearly 2 hours. My son took me and watched most of it until they sent him out when things got difficult - said he couldn't believe I just got up and walked out as if nothing had happened.

Best wishes Hali12, and I hope the headaches start to improve very soon.

Unfortunately for me my didn’t gush out. It was trickling. Doc said I was dehydrated. Which made no sense at all to me

Mine only trickled, didn't say I was dehydrated told me it is slow coming out...

Are you sure this isn't anything weird? US, racism, sexism, that sort of stuff. If you felt mistreated, you ought to complain. It sounds out of the norm, almost as if they don't even know what they are doing.

Most definitely discriminated is one and mistreated is another. Can wait till Tuesday to put in a long complaint to them. Like that’s going to go far. But at least I’ll get my word across.

Discrimination could easily escalate into mistreatment in my view. Taking nearly an hour for a single LP is just...unprofessional, possibly negligent. You must have been in agony! Mine went fine, but when the needle was digging in, it wasn't pleasant.
