supplementals and swelling in knuckle

I've heard that it is best not to take calcium the same time you take your prednisone, and was wondering if anyone has heard the same about omega? It all gets soooooo confusing

another question, I have PMR and GCA, just diagnosed in the last few months, my 2nd knuckle is very very swollen and bruised, very painful and stiff, can not grip anything with that hand, is this something i should let my GP know about? I swear there is a new symptom everyday, how do you know if they are related or just something that happens. And get tired of calling the dr.....ugh ugh ugh!!!!

I haven’t heard any reason why you can’t take Omega fish oil with Pred. It sounds like an injury on your knuckle. I ignored that sort of symptom once and now I have a permanly swollen finger. I’d broken it somehow dealing with my crazy dog.

I believe that Calcium supplements should be taken several hours after Pred. I take my Pred with breakfast, one Calcichew at lunchtime and another late afternoon.

It is a pain going to drs etc but it's also good to get symptoms recirded....provides evidence things are still active. Also in the long run the Dr learns about potential symptoms of pmrgca so might DX it quicker in future and not request such fast tapers as they usually do. That's why I try to point out these transient but painful symptoms.

There is always the point that it may not be PMR you have - but a form of inflammatory arthritis (they can be very similar in the early stages). Additional joint symptoms may provide some evidence - though most inflammatory arthritides affect several joints not just one.
