it sure has hit me today. Have to get through an eight hour shift, not quite sure how. All I want to do is lie down and sleep. Aching all over and to cap it all I have a chest infection, currently on antibiotics. Just moaning.

Horizon, much as none of us likes to take time off sick, that is just what you are right now, not just with PMR but, to cap it all, with a chest infection as well which can only exacerbate the PMR pain. I’m sure your Manager will understand your need to be resting at home and recovering far sooner than if you push yourself and make things worse. I do hope you will soon feel better.

Going to work when you are ill is doing noone any good - you pass it on to colleagues and hinder your own recovery. Your doctor should have signed you off at the same time as givng abx - particulalry since you have a chronic condition.

Hello, I know your circumstances have been difficult but pushing yourself like this is not good at the best of times. With PMR and Pred you’re playing with fire. Taking some time off now will be better than perhaps ending up worse and incapacitated for a long time. Bodies have a tendency to get their way eventually if they don't get what they need.

So sorry to hear this... I can't imagine trying to work, I just can't. I give you so much credit for being there. I'm sending thoughts of strength, stamina and energy!

Oh, Horizon, please don't stay at work when you are feeling so poorly. And please don't go to work when you are feeling so poorly. If there's one thing that I've learned is that with these diseases, we have to become better advocates for ourselves. Is being at work helping you feel better? NO! Is going to work making it harder for your system to fight your illnesses? MOST LIKELY! Would being at home resting help you recover faster? YES!

I still work, too. But I have to say when I'm not feeling well - fluish, tired, just out of sorts, etc., I (now) don't hesitate to call in sick (ok, sometimes I feel guilty and use vacation time but the result is that I stay home). We have to remember that we really do have serious systemic illnesses and we don't do ourselves any favors by pushing ourselves when our bodies are telling us that it needs rest. But, in honesty, I didn't come to this conclusion easily. My best friend is a physician and she gave me a stern lecture on not working when you don't feel good. I know I'm not your bestie, but consider this a soft lecture on working when you don't feel good -- from someone that cares and understands.

I hope you can take time off. Please rest, put yourself and illness first.

I couldn’t possibly work immediately following diagnosis. Sold my business after almost a year. Client files were picked up yesterday. Career chapter is closed. Now working on my non-profit...distributing gowns and accessories to poor teens and adults and scholarships to students who serve the organization. Last distribution is Saturday. Hope I don’t fall off the earth with too much free time after that! I need structure. Yikes, need to create new activities and interests.

Thankyou so much for all your comments. I have to push myself to work. I can't pay my bills on half pay and I would loose my beautiful home if I can't pay the mortgage. I have to struggle through the chronic fatigue and pain, I don't know what else to do.
