Today's bit to cheer you up.

London City airport was closed all day yesterday following the discovery of a WW2 bomb.

I have been asked why a bomb in London would be defused by a Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Team rather than army?

For the benefit of my civilian friends, all 3 services have a Bomb Disposal capability.

Who deals with the device depends on where the bomb is found. The Royal Navy deal with anything below the high water mark, the Army deal with anything above the high water mark and the RAF deal with bath bombs and fizzy pop unless there is a danger of spiders when they call in a service with more seniority... such as the Scouts.

Sent to my son by a friend. 😁

The motorway up the road is closed on Sunday mornings at irregular intervals as left overs the US airforce dumped are found. I think they work on the assumption it isn't going to explode suddenly if left alone, after all, it will have been there a LONG time!

The German also keep finding similar little toys around the Frankfort airport and under where they want to build new motorways...

So are we - but since that is at the top of mountains it doesn't matter so much and it tends to be boots (sometimes with bodies). The front ran across the tops just the other side of the nearest mountain range to us. I'd love to go up there but you have to walk...

Think any ex-RAF on here may be saying ‘ouch!’, whilst the Scouts will be chuffed. Made me smile, and reminded me of my ex-Marine husband’s favourite saying.

Q: What’s the most dangerous thing known to mankind?

A: An officer with a map...

Pretty spectacular water plume when it was exploded off Essex yesterday. I wondered why Essex but then remembered that someone is erecting a wind farm at the end of the Thames and Essex has nothing much going for it. I admit that Suffolk is next door but we've got two Nuclear Power stations at Sizewell one of which is being decommissioned for the next 100 years. (tongue in cheek). and two more to be built at Sizewell C.

Regards to all and have a nice day.
