would you believe it????????????

Well, well, well! Following on from yesterday's comments about the saying; The apple doesn't fall far from the tree....... I have just been watching a tv programme on BBC1, in which there was a photographer, referring to his young daughter, who is following in his footsteps, with her love for photography, and then.......... out came those words. I just shrieked at the tv! Talk about co-incidence, and me saying I had never heard that before in England.Just goes to show.... there's always a first time.

Being on 4mg Pred, I was thinking of tapering after Xmas. However, the past few days, nights actually, I feel a headache in my scalp, nothing like when it first started, 12 years ago, but just a little worry.

Don't understand. Maybe just me. About your headache, you must see a Dr. before Christmas.

karools is referring to a previous conversation as well!

Sorry, should have been more clear. Have GCA, been on Pred 12 years. Synacthen test showed adrenal insufficiency. Haven't had any headaches/symptoms until now.Might just ask GP, over the phone, if I should increase dosage.

I would phone the GP or see them. You can’t be too careful. What are they doing for your Adrenal deficiency? Are they not treating it with Pred. Sorry if I am late to the party and this was all discussed on another thread.

You're not too late SJ! AD being treated with 4mg Pred. I was doing so well, until these little scalp headaches started at night.

Fingers crossed for you! You have had more than your fair share.

I hope this blows over and you have a good holiday season altogether. X🎄

Thanks SJ. You must be counting the days now! DL will return ,you go..lot of jet-setters on this forum.PS Are you safe? Heard, on tv news, about bomb in Sheffield.

in reply tokarools16

Apparently bangs were police gaining entry rather than bomb thank goodness. Had me going for a minute when you mentioned it. It's within a mile of me so glad No one hurt. Terror plot foiled says headline.

Oh, didn't know your neck of the woods, too. The times we live in.

Yep. Very scary sometimes.

Thanks karools. I am really looking forward to seeing all 4 of my grandchildren. I don’t know about you, but I worry if I have to do a thing and get quite anxious, long haul flight, surrendering to assertive daughters, managing jet lag you know- everything really. Misery guts that I am. 🤫

I didn’t know that you were so near Poopadoop, to me I mean. Anyway, the plot was foiled. Nowhere is safe these days.

Would you Adam and Eve it??!!

Hope the headache passes without incident.

Well, now, I haven't heard that before. Is that cockney rhyming slang? Yes, headaches a nuisance, as I want to taper after Xmas.

Sure is me ole china. (china plate= mate).

Right, time for a cup of Rosy (Rosy Lee=tea), then put on me whistle (whistle and flute=suit). Time to get off me Aris (Aristotle=bottle and glass= @rse).

I’m not cockney, these words infiltrate the national language, along with Polari (Italian influence) and back-slang such as Rechtub klat (which my butcher assured me is still used). Many of our everyday words have come from very dubious (and rude) origins. Newer Cockney rhyming slang gets called ‘mockney’ by the old stalwarts: and my ‘dustbins’ (dustbin lids=kids) use words that seem to be opposites of what they used to mean, to call something ‘sick’ apparently means it’s very good! Language is always mutating, leaving the rest of us at sixes and sevens 😉

Karools, So is the hope that you will eventually get off steroids? I see you are hoping to drop from 4mg. Or are you testing the waters? To see what is possible?

I was on 3mg, I think, in May. Then appt came for Synacthen Test. I was not tired, and , actually, feeling very well, at the time, so it came as a massive blow, that I had Adrenal insufficiency. After 3 months on Hydrocortisone, which the Endocrinologist insisted on changing from Pred, and awful side-effects, I refused to continue, and demanded a return to Pred. 4mg was decided as equivalent to 16mg Hydro.

I don't know if I will come off Pred, and am not really bothered. I woke with a streaming cold this morning, which calls for Pred to be doubled, until well, again.

I hope, after Xmas, to start tapering. DSNS was excellent from 4 to 3mg Pred.

Thanks for that Soraya_PMR. Never heard of any of those. I must admit though, I really hate the NEW meaning of sick!

I have heard that expression about the apple and the tree many times in the UK. Maybe I am just old! 😳 x

Maybe I have'nt been in UK long enough, or it's not said around here. From your pic, you're definitely not old...much younger than me!

I come from the Midlands originally, karools, but moved to London 34 years ago - so could be a Midlands or a London thing maybe. 🤔 Will be 55 on 3rd Jan - but feel about 85 with this illness. 😬 x

karools16 in reply toSusyTe

Yep, you sure are younger than me, by a long shot. I will be 71 on 4 Feb. I do UNDERSTAND your feeling much older...lousy feeling, isn't it? As SJ likes to say; This too shall pass.

SusyTe profile image
SusyTe in reply tokarools16

Yup, karools - this rotten illness has aged me by about 10 years, I would say. Let’s hope by our birthdays we will be feeling a bit better! This too shall pass - that is one of my favourite expressions. 👍 x
