The Troche my doc gave me for the mouth yeast is worthless. Just curious which medications your docs give you that have this issue.. I have Nyastatin in house but have also been on diflucan.
Yeast medication.: The Troche my doc gave me for... - PMRGCAuk
Yeast medication.
I just had thrush, I had never had it before in my life.I started on nyastatin but after 6 days of it, the thrush returned, so I am using natural remedies for it..there are many listed, among them are rising with salt water or baking soda or coconut oil.Im alternating all three and it seems to be keeping the thrush at bay. At least these natural remedies can be used everyday without any harm and probably they would avoid a recourrance, once healed.
Ditto as above. The nystatin is nasty and thrush came back. I alternate salt and bicarbonate. Have also found the Arm & Hammer toothpaste useful as it contains bicarbonate.
Plus you should cut sugars from your diet as that is what thrush feeds on.
Some say natural yogurt, but doesn’t work for me, might for you?
Really upset my palette for a year but now, with reduction of prednisone, it's almost back to normal and just traces of yeast. Nothing worked but not surprised, I didn't take anything. Just morning brushing the tongue helped.
My taste buds are mixed up. Nothing tastes good and it all had a funky slimy taste. All food tastes the same and awful. Dud you have that problem? I’m brushing tongue also . Tomorrow I will be on 12.5 Prednisone .
Being a devout foodie - who takes photos, writes about food - poor taste was a worse tragedy than being a one-arm wallpaper hanger! It wasn't fair. As I told my rheumatologist - all food tastes like I've poured rust sauce over it and yet I can't stop eating!! He told me with reduction of prednisone, appetite will decrease - which it has. In this world of vasculitis, there is so much we have to grin and bear with!! Keep well and smiling, Leeleep.
How long are you dealing with this? I have thrush causing it. Also need to take IV antibiotic for a resistant bladder infection. No clue how they will handle all these issues and I’m getting scared .
After you have finished the i.v. antibiotic ask about the possibility of taking probiotics, preferably a high dose capsule type such as VSL#3 (that is just an example, other sorts are available, although one member on this forum will sing its praises!).
Pred and antibiotics upset the balance of "good" bacteria in the body and it is helpful to get that back in balance. When the baddies overwhelm - you get sick in various ways. Overwhelm tha baddies and things improve - just like planting flowers leaves no room for weeds to grow.
You will be familiar with probiotics in yoghurt and other products but the high dose capsules have millions more and colonise your body much more quickly.
The member I mentioned had had surgery and became very run down with overwhelming thrush etc. Her gastroenterologist said to her to try "this" - sorry, not available on the NHS and it is pricey but it will help. And it did. If you can afford it - do try it.
As soon as I was on prednisone (Dec 2016). Now that dosage is reduced and reducing 1mg per month, it is almost gone - just an overnight chalky coating which I scrub off with toothbrush. I don't want to take any prophylactics, any other medication, the main focus is on getting off the drug.
