Just out of hospital with a final diagnosis of PMR. I went in on Monday morning by ambulance after being very very sick all that night. My CRP was 26.9 . Is that good or bad? The Doctor thinks the steroids had something to do with the awful gastric attack! Has anyone else suffered anything like this?
Glad to be home though...

Without seeing the lab's reference range it is difficult to say - but I'd say that is high, yes. When you were put on pred did they also give you "stomach protection" meds? Such as omeprazole or ranitidine (Zantac)? Are you on any other medications?
Thanks for rapid reply!! I have now being put on Esomeprazole. I suffer with Gout n Hypothyroidism plus high cholesterol, so I am a bit of a complication!!!!!! Starting reduction now from 25mg so here's hoping I can do successfully!!!! This forum is so informative thank you once again!!!
Just looked at your previous post - are you sure the sickness wasn't due to chocolate overdose!!
CRP reading is on the high side so you might have something else going on - maybe a gastric bug doing the rounds. More likely to be that, or the chocolate than Pred - it's can give digestive type problems, but not usually sickness per se.
Are you on a PPI - Omeprazole or similar. If not good yoghurt will protect your stomach lining.
Just be a bit more aware of what you eat until things settle.
Thanks so much for getting back so soon! Defo the Choc didn't help😂 I have a different mentality now though!!!! Little small etc!!! Feeling better now though and learning all the time thanks to here forum!!!!
Starting to reduce now from 25mg will let ye know how I get on....
Hi Christinemac, my PMR onset was marked by vomiting ( on a long haul flight). I was more sick in the early weeks than I had been in all my adult life, reminiscent of early pregnancy when smells could set it off. Groin Pain, shoulder pain and severely restricted mobility followed. The Prednisalone miracle took 48 hours. The digestive upsets from Prednisalone were quite different and solved by Omeprazole - that felt painful as if I had taken something caustic ( I had).
Glad you are home with a firm diagnosis. Stick with us.
A few months I think ,not sure on dates. I have been on Pred since May 2016. I had a DEXA about 3 years ago too, related to arthritic pain I think or PMR rumblings perhaps..Time and date questions are getting harder. Temporary I hope. Why do you ask?
Until recenrecently I had been on lanzaporole for about 15 yrs perhaps more due to diabetes aspirin protocol. One of long term effect is on bone density so just wondered if you had been on it a while. I am only taking it or rantitide when I need it now because off aspirin.
