My internet access....

has been on and off for 5 days now. Mostly off - and it was iffy for days before that.

Sorry that I am missing so much and will try to catch up as we have now been informed that the problem has been sorted (I've heard that before).

Can only wait and see how it goes.

And did they at least offer you a refund/credit for the 5 useless days? (I know, hope springs eternal...)

No, they sounded baffled when I mentioned it, and what's more it's just reappeared after another 3 hours down!

I have continual problems with my broadband, supplied by the wonderful BT. Things got worse today when we lost our electricity as well. I have gas for cooking and thought ho ho I can have a cup of tea only to realise I needed matches to light the mantles. I am not sure I can exist without electricity.

No, even camping we do like our electrics! But a box of matches was always present when we cooked on gas!

I have put matches on my shopping list. The trouble is gone are the days when places used to give free matches. I still have got some boxes but the matches tend to disentegrate when you try to light them, I suppose I could always rub two stick together.

We have a couple of the Bic lighters for BBQs (other makes are available) which have a long nozzle and it reduces the burnt finger risk.

That is not a bad idea, I did have a long metal thing with a battery in it which heated up when you pressed a trigger. It seems it has disappeared, probably behind the cooker covered in grease!
