Yes I have had phases of nightmares throughout my 14 months of PMR and taking Pred. I have also had vivid interesting dreams that I look forward to, that also come in clusters.

They can be bizarre can't they?

As a chronic pain patient long before I was a PMR patient I know that pain can bring on all kinds of nightmares. However there are other drugs that are known for bringing on nightmares. Some of them are antidepressants and some of them are pain relievers. Those are ones I know of. Do you happen to be on anything like that? If not then it's most likely the pain bringing them on.

Yes I'm on setraline for anxiety and depression along with the pred for pmr, happy days.

Will if you recently started it when you got the nightmares it would certainly be worth calling your pharmacist and asking if it could be the cause of your nightmare.

Yes, that brings back memories and I can still be hit by such bad dreams occasionally even post PMR/GCA. Relief to wake up isn't it!! Only recently, I awoke from a bad dream finding one of my hands tightly clenched - I had been holding tightly on to something in my dream! Can't for the life of me remember what now. Avoiding such things as cheese and all caffeinated drinks, including the caffeine in chocolate, later in the day can help.

Yep, ditto.

I can manage the decaff drinks, but it's the dark chocolate that gets me every time! I try to avoid it in the evenings, but sometimes it's the only thing that hits the spot!

So know what you mean - over-indulged in G&B's dark choccie egg recently, not to mention the ginger and butterscotch bars that came with it, and my waistline (or what passes for my waistline these days!) seems to be getting higher and higher!

Very good over Easter, but just come in to find a little pressie from British Gas - Hotel Chocolat Solid Chocolate Tasting Batons!

And I won £25 on the Lotto - must be my lucky week.

I'll try not to get carried away!

Great belated birthday pressies to get, DL - congratulations! Are BG guilty of something perhaps? Son gave us Hotel Chocolat egg with chocs for Easter - yum! !

No, it was just one of their occasional draws they have - for 'special' customers! No, I don't know either! Still, not complaining.

Hotel Chocolat products are fabulous. I still have two and a bit Easter eggs left. No one gave me a Hotel Chocolat egg though. Also Dorset Lady I won on the Lottery this month too!

I often have what could be described as 'bad dreams', even before i started on pred, so they dont bother me. If they continue to disturb you into waking hours perhaps avoid food/ drink which could trigger them .

Hi 5757

I often have very vivid dreams and mostly they are upsetting.

However on the brighter side I often dream of toilets - all different kinds, colours etc. with and without doors and in the strangest places, all with people sitting on them! I usually need to go to the loo during the night so think this is my brain telling me to wake up it's time to wee!

Well - that's a different topic for nightmares...

Hello

I have also had some very intense dreams while on Pred - some really very interesting - and certainly more vivid than anything which is usual for me. Most of them haven't been of the 'bad' variety though and some I have almost enjoyed in an odd way although difficult to now recall - as dreams often are. I also notice I feel generally more 'intense' anyway even in the daylight hours. I know this will likely diminish as I taper down but in the meantime I am making the most of this more intense mindset which agrees in some ways at least with my kind of personality - as I am assuming something more like 'normality' might return one day.

My partner might be relieved though !!

Best wishes - and sweeter dreams !

Yes, I have had vivid dreams, sometimes really horrible ones since about 2 months of starting on Pred. I also wake up after the dream with a fast heartbeat with ventricular ectopics. It happens usually around 3.30 am and then 3 or 4 times after that. I thought it might get better as I reduced, but I am now on 6.5 mg and it still happens.
