Any advise?

Since leaving hospital for previously mentioned insertion of rod in right femur I have been unable to move out of my room due to the pain and also a nasty attack of diahorria which has lasted for 4 days. Afraid to eat and feel awful. Sorry to moan.

Poor you! Moan away! Could it be the side effect of a medication you are on by any chance? It's gone on a bit long for gastro things. You need to see a doctor. Keep those fluids up. Any friends/ family members around to support you?

Oh Gillymar, that's terrible ! Like Jane, I would be blaming the attack of "Big D' on a medication. Seems, for me...that's generally the case. Are you using any OTC drugs to get any relief. Diarrhea can be so draining...in more ways than one. ;-) You need nutrition and plenty of fluid even though you may feel like you don't.

I hope you have someone to help you out.

Will pray for a better day, CJ

Thanks to Sheffield lady and cjaffhesea for quick and kind responses to my moan. My daughter lives very near and is wonderful. Yesterday she picked me up from the floor after a giddy spell . Today she has bought me some powder to mix in water to replace nutrients lost in the big D. I am living on water, the occasional digestive biscuit and a few grapes. So far so good today, no rushes (with a Zimmer frame) to the loo. Think I will ring my doc on Monday though. Good friends on call as well so I am very lucky.

I would lay off the grapes I think! Stick to Electrolytes powders and chicken and rice yes. A mouthful of banana every so often would be my fruit of choice. Sip fluids regularly. I feel for you .....

You have had the doctor in haven't you? In fact, it being the weekend, I would check with OOH/111 (you are in the UK aren't you?). If this started after hospital it could be a hospital-acquired infection and needs checking properly, just in case. C Diff is nasty stuff...

My thoughts exactly, PMRpro. Gillymar, I have just recovered from C. Diff, which PMRpro mentions.Hospitalised 5 days, isolation and severely dehydrated. Until you see a dr, take boiled rice, or boiled pasta, no cheese, sauces, just bland. If you were/are on anti-biotics it MAY be due to that. Ask your dr. 4 days of diarrhoea is serious. Hope you are well soon.
