Got off the Pred last Oct. after about 4 years since first starting.. PMR has not returned. Feeling well most of the time although a few arthritic joints bother me. Still go to aqua aerobics and Pilates ( started when I had PMR). Both help to keep supple. Do get some tired out days but have learnt to rest on those. Also have lost weight slowly over this period....now only a few pounds over pre pred weight. Look much better. Have not been actively dieting to slim, body seems to have re adjusted. Hope this gives support to others at the start of their PMR illness. I remember feeling "is this old age". Answer "no you can recover and be normal again" !!

It just takes time.

Good,

So nice to hear good news, and that there is life at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully it will give hope to those still going through difficult times.

You really made my day. Was diagnosed August 11 with PMR and had a bad morning with a flare up. I'm really happy for you, and hopefully I'll be the same one day.

Suzie, so glad to hear that things are still going smoothly nearly one year down the line - a big boost for everyone still struggling, hearing that there is life after steroids! Enjoy feeling "normal"!

I've just managed to give up my last 1mg of pred after 7 years! This has been the most difficult drop but finally my body seems to have adjusted. What has made the difference is reflexology. I am convinced that the two treatments I have had (from my Bowen Therapist) have helped my body to adjust. I think reflexology stimulates the adrenal gland so maybe this is what has happened. Anyway I feel so relieved and almost normal! I understand it may take a year to really escape from the effects of the steroids so maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hope this gives hope to everyone who thinks they will never get off the pred.

Thanks for that hopeful paragraph. I did have a 10 year remission and felt normal but here I am again and know more of what this is - PMR.

Sorry to hear that you have had PMR again- i dread the thought if it returning. It has made me more health conscious and body aware so am sure I'd recognise a re lapse. Maybe I'll be fortunate and never suffer again?

It is possible you will never have it return. I had stress and Signs of trouble brewing. Had I had the correct diagnosis I would get on 15 mg of Meds right away. Or whatever an RA would advise.
