Yes - often! It may be worth speaking to your doctor as it is most likely bursitis in the hips and a local steroid injection can make a big difference.

But the real solution is - as you say - to learn not to overdo it when you feel better!

Yes as PMRPRO says, it could be bursitis. I get it starting over the outer hop, down the thigh then into my buttocks. At its worst it forces me to stop walking after 30-40m. I see a wonderful physio who gives me exercises according to what's playing up when I visit. For the bursitis I do "clam" exercises and abduction exercises which helped enormously. I also have bursitis in my bum which makes sitting uncomfortable, need really padded seat 😃. Hope it settles soon, Runrig

I've got a really padded seat--unfortunately it doesn't come off though!!

But being serious: bad days mean I'm restricted to either 20 m walking or 2 mins standing without support ; good days mean I can walk 40m (with stick) or stand for about 5 mins with support. Seeing my Bowen physio gives me some respite but it all repeats itself.

Going back to the original thread--sportspersons when they slow down.

I used to be a high activity sportsman up to my mid 50s (regularly reffing Football & American Football around the shift work I did). Wore the cartilages/ligaments in left knee out--had a knee replacement, just getting fit again when I got leg lymphoedema (really put the brakes on!). Just managing that (compression hosiery, etc.) when I got a quick burst of uveitis (iritis), leaving me with a slightly weaker left eye and needing tinted glasses. Then with that sorted along comes PMR (or as the rheumy said on one visit: I'm not totally convinced that you have PMR but you definitely have bursitis and tendonitis in both shoulders and hips?!?!? gulp!!)

To quote my wife: "Do you have to look as if you're break-dancing every morning?" Such understanding from the gentler?? sex.

Hello mistcot. I'm quite new here but I've had poly m for about a year. Only just found this wonderful forum and the lovely kind people on here, and , with their help I have finally managed to get my head round Pmr (does'nt deserve capitals) and the use of Pred. I feel better for the understanding of how it all works. You are not alone with "the bumper ache ,stiffness and burning" I have it as well. Mine is either side of my lower spine ( the muscles that one uses for bending, straightening, walking, turning and anything else you can think of , and on top of that when you sit for a well deserved rest they start to burn !!!!!! Just to let you know they are still there. If you come up with a solution please let me know. Keep strong and keep in touch my newly acquired bumper burning friend. Elaine X

Just back from the doctors and never got any reason why my back has a burning feeling just to let him know if it does not get any better in the next few weeks as he doesn't want to put me on any other pills and I can understand that , three years ago I would only take pain killers if I really really had to . now i have to take four sometimes five pills a day .
