I have one sided top jaw pain which improves if I stretch my jaw and is not there all the time . Does not get worse eating and I wondered if Temporomandibular was a possibility. Is it another PMR link?
Thanks as always for your help

Suetum,
Thought I should reply as I was diagnosed wrongly as temporomandibular and sent to dentist who pulled a tooth which just happened to be loose. A week later I lost my sight in one eye with GCA as proven by biopsy in BEH. So please get it checked out is all I can say. Good luck.
It's one of those difficult to tell situations - as raymck's post shows. There's no wonder doctors struggle - there are no 100% accurate indicators, they are almost all ambivalent except the biopsy. If it's positive that IS 100% sure but being negative still doesn't rule GCA out.
It is definitely something to mention to the doctor and keep a close eye on. Any visual symptoms or worsening of what you have/new GCA-type symptoms at all and go straight to A&E - still faster than a doctor's appointment unless you can walk in and see them on demand.
And always keep a box of pred in your handbag that is enough to give an initial immediate GCA-size pred dose if required. Don't forget to check the expiry date.
Totally agree with comments below - I have atypical GCA, affecting several arteries. If something doesn't feel right to you don't ignore it and keep contact with ur GP. I was diagnosed four times incorrectly with migraine. The only slight visual change I had was slight temporal pain with mosaic like squares . I also had a tooth out and one filled which wasn't the cause. Has ur GP done bloods lately?
I also was diagnosed with TMJ then two years later pmr/ta - no further jaw pain. So fortunate I didn't lose my sight which was very blurry with constant tight headache. Good luck
Hello Suetum
In October 2014 I was told by my Dentist that I was grinding my teeth (bruxism) and in October 2014, he told me I had muscle spasms and need dental physiotherapy to correct it. None of this was true and I was diagnosed with GCA in April 2015. So in summary, don't ignore the symptoms and get it checked out.
Best Wishes!
