For the last two and a half years I have been taking 30 mg Lansoprazole in the morning.
I had a laryngoscopy at the voice clinic the other week and was told that there was evidence of scarring from gastric reflux and it was suggested that I increase the dose to 30 mg in the morning and in the evening. I am reluctant to do this and thought I would use enteric-coated tablets where possible.
Has anyone been on this dose? It doesn’t say anything about it in the packaging leaflet. I am concerned about side-effects as much as anything.

I took coated pred it was fine and no stomach problems. The only downside is the tablets are only available in UK in 5mg and 2.5mg amounts. Some people mix with uncoated if they need 1mg ones.
I have been on lanzoprozile about 4years for severe gastric reflux and taking prednisilone gave me more gastric pain my G P so had to take it am and pm, I take it before my evening meal and have been fine with it. I take the 30 mgm tab.
Diagnosed with PMR and ? Gca in January after a year of investigations and put on 20 mgms pred. But have been up and down with dose as G. P bringing me down too fast and having flares. At last he has agreed for me to come down 1 mgm every two weeks so I'm hoping it will be ok but I still ache and have hip and back pain but manageable. My esr and cpr has come down well so he seems to think I'm fine!
It's wonderful to read everyone's comments and I have learned so much from this forum. Thank you to everyone who writes in. Anne
Yes, I usually take one 30mg capsule first thing in the morning, but am allowed to double it (and take one in the evening) if I get a bout of gastritis. I've never noticed any side effects, but I've been taking it for about 15 years and it does manage my reflux problem well.
I can't tolerate lanzoprozile and usually take 20mg of Omeprazole and after a visit to a (very handsome) ENT consultant, he said I have burns from gastric reflux, must take 40mg Omep per day for a month, then back to 20mg adjustable if I feel the need.
Many thanks, all. I think I will continue with the E/C Pred wherever possible and discuss it with my GP *when* I see her. I sometimes get short attacks of 'burps', particularly in the morning, but it doesn't worry me unduly. Odd that the attacks are in the mornings, about two or three hours after taking the lansoprazole.
