Well I took 20mg last night instead of 30 and I am still alive, ha ha. I have taken so long to get down to 30mg I didn't want to take more than I had to. I thought I would take 20mg at 10am this morning as well and see if I can get through until tomorrow 8am. I am so desperate to get down to a lower dose. At the moment my head and eyes feel 90% better than last night.

Had biopsy for GCA 8 days ago and waiting on MRI and to see eye doc. Just got over 2 lots of anti biotics for chest infection which finally seems to have gone. Got down to 4-6 paracetamol a day from 8-10 for the headaches. Dropped the preds from 35 to 30 and all seemed to be going well until I forgot to take any.

I think we all want to reduce pred as quickly as possible but going too fast can be detrimental as it can cause a flare up and then you have to go up again, which can cause yoyoing which can cause further problems. It is better to reduce more slowly in amounts ideally not more than ten per cent. This can actually be faster than trying to go too quickly and then having to increase to cover flare ups. I am glad you have been able to reduce the paracetomol, you should not take more than 1000mg a day as it can cause liver damage,

You are courting disaster with a drop of 10mg. You are especially vulnerable with having GCA.

With the right dose of pred, you should not have to take any paracetomol at all. They do nothing for the GCA.

Go back to where you were and wait till the result of the MRI and seeing the eye specialist, never ever forget that if you lose partial or total vision, once it is gone, it is gone. No recovery at all.
